Chamonix FR, July 4, 07

I was on my way to Chamonix from Tasch and stopped in the town of Sion to take some pictures. There are vineyards everywhere along the mountain sides. These vineyards are in the Rhone Valley.

That is the old Cathedral of Sion in the distance (Notre Dame, but not the Notre Dame).
Some of the roads are as steep as 25% and they're usually only one lane wide.

The Col de la Forclaz, a famous Tour de France climb. It was about 40 degrees here at the top of the pass. Another 1,000 feet higher and it was snowing. There was a restaurant here too. I had lunch for about $21. And that was Roesti; hash browns, cheese and a fried egg with a cup of coffee. This place isn't cheap, or reasonable even!

I ate a few of his cousins the other day for dinner. They were pretty good!!!

That I know of, I haven't eaten any your cousins yet. Although, I've had a lot of suspicious things to eat since I've been here.

I'm staying in Chamonix-Mont Blanc tonight. I came to ride the cable car up the mountain, but I don't think I'm going to get the chance. It's closed today due to the wind and the forecast for tomorrow isn't looking any better. Oh well.

I found a bike shop that says they can fix my wheel. I need to pick it up tomorrow morning before I leave town.
