Tasch, Zermatt & the Matterhorn SW, July 3, 07

I took a ski lift ride through the mountains today. $72 to go to 12,200 feet near the Matterhorn. 12,200 feet is a LOT different here than it is in Colorado at this time of year. The visibility was generally about 50 feet. The wind speed was around 75 miles per hour. The snow stung like needles. IT WAS AWESOME! Walk out, walk in. Nuff said. There was still enough snow for people to be skiing. Not me.

This was taken at about 10,000 feet at the second station from the top.
Some pictures of the Breithorn and its surrounding glacier.

This is a looking down the ski lift cables from the top station. Visibility isn't so good. Kinda eerie!
Getting lower in altitude.
Just in case you didn't think I was actually here. Not that you can see it, but the Matterhorn is over my left shoulder.

Approaching Zermatt again.
A Zermatt street.
Zermatt at night.
