Tasch, Zermatt & the Matterhorn SW, July 2, 07

This place is loaded with waterfalls. There are more here than I've ever seen. None quite as massive as in Yosemite, but there are certainly plenty that have comparable heights.
Grimselpass appears to have been part of the Tour of Switzerland this year. There were things painted on the road. I just drove it, but this climb was amazing. It was about 19 miles long, and all uphill. Many stretches were over 10%.



This is a typical Swiss town with hand made log cabins, barns, hotels, etc. I drove through the town of Bitsch today. I didn't see anyone I knew.

I'm staying in Tasch.

I rode up to Zermatt on a one lane road that is only for service traffic. I then rode back down to Tasch and further down the valley to St. Nicklaus. I didn't see him either.

The Matterhorn.

This was on the way back to Tasch after going to St. Nicklaus. It wasn't that bad.

This is the view from the top of the climb. Randa below and the Breithorn in the distance. Zermatt and the Matterhorn are around the mountain to the right of the Breithorn. There is a train to take you there.

I came to the traffic light in front of my hotel. When I started to pedal, I broke a spoke. Dammit Jim!!! (not the bike shop)

I think I packed my wheels a little tight for the trip. :(

I may have resort to eating, drinking and taking pictures until Trish gets here. Or I'll look for a bike shop.
